A story by 99 For The 1 (@99forthe1)

“Everybody meet Donna. We had the pleasure of meeting Donna today and listening to part of her story.
The unfortunate thing about being homeless is that many people think you don’t have anything to offer or that investing time in you would be pointless.
Our belief is quite the opposite.
Donna has never been on one of our vans before and today she was in tears when we told her that there was a hot shower and fresh clothes ready for her. We told her to take her time as we put on her favorite band, “the Eagles” over the radio.
She got out and expressed that she felt like a new person.
She asked for one more thing… a pair of clean socks and it just so happens that the 10th graders at Princess Anne High School had just donated at least 50 pairs of socks full of hygiene supplies.
Sometimes getting nothing in return while giving is the best thing you can receive.”

99 For The 1 is a mobile outreach in Virginia Beach, VA that serves individuals who are struggling with homelessness. They offer a one shop stop for individuals to receive a shower, shave, clothing, and hygiene products for the week. 99 for the 1 is all about providing a hand up rather than a handout. This amazing organization ran by Jeremiah and Rachel was created after serving overseas. They realized how individuals in our own communities needed to be showered and loved with support. They focused on building intentional relationships while letting Jesus work. 99 for the 1 is an amazing organization that we would love for you to get involved with.
